John and Hannah were interested in a cargo bike for their family. They reached out to us, Manchester Bikes, to help them find the right cargo bike for their needs. 

We started with gathering the families' requirements for a cargo bike.

We ask questions like:

• What do they want to carry?
• Where do they want to cycle?
• How old are the kids?
• Who will be riding the cargo bike?
• What’s your cargo bike budget?

From this, we can narrow down to a selection of bikes for test ride. Hannah and John test rode a few cargo bikes then settled on trying the Tern GSD S00. At Manchester Bikes we offer try before you buy hire for most of of our cargo bikes. They took the Tern cargo bike for a weeks hire and loved it. 

Hannah and John chose the Tern GSD S00 as it was compact, yet it could take their two children to school after-school clubs and still handle the weekly shop. It felt like riding a regular bike and could be used for trips without kids and cargo too. 

The Tern GSD S00 comes with a Gates belt drive and an Enviolo shifting hub. This reduced the day-to-day maintenance of the bike massively. Something that was really important to this family.  

After a few months of use Hannah and John found they were using their cargo bike more than expected. The Tern GSD comes with a second battery port so adding a second Bosh e-bike battery was straightforwards. This doubled their cargo bike range, removed any range anxiety, allowing them to do multiple journeys between charges and some longer rides to visit to visit family out of Manchester.  

It was great helping Hannah and John find the right cargo bike for their needs. Catching up with them for this video was special for us. We saw how their Tern cargo bike had become a part of their family. Allowing them to be car free during the week, spend time together as a family and reduce their impact on the environment.
